PGN Supplies Natural Gas to Gagaksipat Boyolali Gas Filling Station, Supporting 6,000 Portions of MBG per Day
Jakarta – PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN), through its subsidiary Gagas Energi Indonesia (PGN Gagas), ensures the availability of natural gas as cooking energy at the Gagaksipat Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in Boyolali. Each day, this SPPG provides 6,000 portions of Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) to 34 schools.
To support the MBG program at the SPPG, PGN Gagas distributes 2,000-3,000 m3 of natural gas per month using a non-pipeline system, namely Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
"PGN, as Pertamina's Gas Subholding, is committed to supporting the MBG program by providing a gas network, both pipeline and non-pipeline. SPPG locations that are not served by gas pipelines can be served using CNG. This allows the MBG program to utilize natural gas energy, which is practical and flows continuously 24/7," said PGN President Director Arief S. Handoko (February 5, 2025).
Ghani Prasetya, Head of the Gagaksipat Gas Filling Station (SPPG), expressed his appreciation for the use of natural gas under his management. "Using natural gas is very easy and practical. To cook large quantities, we need a large amount of gas. Therefore, using natural gas is very practical," Ghani said.
PGN Gagas President Director Santiaji Gunawan added, "PGN Gagas provides a natural gas network using the beyond-pipeline method through CNG for SPPGs that do not yet have a pipeline. Gas trucks source gas from nearby sources and distribute it to SPPG kitchens. Currently, PGN Gagas is exploring gas distribution for SPPGs in Cirebon and Lampung," Santiaji explained.
Natural gas in the form of CNG is transported daily from the nearest CNG Filling Station using a Gas Transport Module (GTM). The GTM then fills the CNG into a Gaslink Cylinder, which is then channeled to the gas pipeline installation at the Gagaksipat SPPG kitchen. This system allows the SPPG kitchen to operate continuously from 8:00 PM to 10:00 AM WIB.
A stable natural gas supply ensures the smooth operation of the SPPG kitchen. Large-scale use of natural gas, such as through the MBG program, also makes cooking faster and more efficient.
