Subholding Gas Strengthens Beyond Pipeline Energy Solutions for Commercial and Public Service Sectors in Bandung
Bandung – PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN), through its Subholding Gas and its affiliate, PT Gagas Energi Indonesia ("Gagas"), reaffirmed its commitment to providing clean, reliable, and efficient energy solutions for industry, particularly the hospitality and hospitality sector in Bandung. This was announced at the Dapur Gaslink event: Smart Energy for Hospitality and Recreation, as well as the groundbreaking for the LNG Hub in Bandung on August 4, 2025.
As the vanguard of Subholding Gas in the beyond pipeline business model, Gagas has served more than 563 Gaslink customers with a total natural gas distribution of up to 16,111,888 MMBTU (average of around 8.03 BBTUD) over the past 5 years. The existing Gaslink customers are 189 Industrial customers and 374 HORECA customers. The existing distribution in the Bandung area and its surroundings is 0.1 BBTUD with 32 Industrial and HORECA customers. The infrastructure operated by Gagas also continues to grow, including 11 PGN Gas Filling Stations (SPBG) and 2 Pertamina Gas Filling Stations (SPBG) and 3 Mobile Refueling Units (MRU) spread across more than 14 cities on the islands of Sumatra, Java, Bali and Kalimantan, as part of an effort to expand natural gas access to areas not yet reached by the PGN pipeline network. The future CNG development projection is that Gagas is in the construction stage of a CNG Mother Station in the North Sumatra region with a distribution target of 0.5 BBTUD to 1.0 BBTUD. In addition, Gagas has also collaborated with PT KIS Biofuels to distribute Biomethane-based CNG to the Industrial and HORECA markets in the Riau region and its surroundings with a target of 0.1 BBTUD to 0.2 BBTUD.
PGN President Director Arief Setiawan Handoko, in his remarks, emphasized Gaslink's role as an energy alternative for the current hospitality industry. "Gaslink and Gagas are smart energy solutions specifically designed to meet the energy needs of the hospitality industry and other sectors, especially in areas not yet served by natural gas pipelines. Through reliable infrastructure and excellent service, we support energy efficiency while helping reduce carbon emissions in line with the national energy transition target," Arief explained. – Tbc PGN
Arief also added that the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) and cooled and liquefied natural gas (LNG) not only offers efficiency and competitive costs compared to fossil fuels, but also contributes significantly to reducing carbon emissions to support the national sustainability agenda.
On the same occasion, another historic moment was marked by the groundbreaking of the LNG Hub in Bandung, marking a strategic milestone for Subholding Gas in strengthening natural gas energy infrastructure in West Java. This LNG Hub will expand access and availability of high-quality LNG for various industrial sectors, including the hospitality industry.
Gagas President Director, Santiaji Gunawan added that the LNG HUB to be built has a capacity of around 15,000 MMBTU (equivalent to around 0.5 BBTUD) or is projected to be able to serve customer needs of up to 15,000 MMBTU per month. "Gagas as part of Subholding Gas together with PGN is certainly committed to continuing to develop the gas energy ecosystem through innovation and the development of strategic infrastructure such as SPBG, CNG HUB, and LNG HUB. We are optimistic that the addition of this LNG HUB will further strengthen the provision of natural gas supplies, especially for the hospitality industry in the city of Bandung and its surroundings," explained Santiaji.
As part of the Gaslink Market Day series of activities, Gagas also held a symbolic ceremony for Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung to use Gaslink for the first time as a new customer. The use of natural gas energy at Hasan Sadikin Hospital marks an important step for the healthcare sector in supporting the use of clean and efficient energy. With the use of Gaslink, Hasan Sadikin Hospital is expected to improve operational efficiency while supporting the green hospital initiative by reducing carbon emissions.
PGN and Gagas invite all hospitality industry players in Bandung to utilize Gaslink's various energy solutions for business efficiency and positive contributions to environmental conservation. This event is expected to serve as a synergistic momentum that strengthens collaboration between PGN, Gagas, and customers in supporting clean energy development in Indonesia.
